How these figures are checked
Every band on this site is read from the government page that sets it, and the page records the date it was read.
- SDLT — HM Revenue & Customs, on GOV.UK.
- LBTT — Revenue Scotland.
- LTT — Welsh Revenue Authority, on GOV.WALES.
What the calculators do not do
They apply the published bands to a residential purchase. They do not handle every relief, surcharge or exemption — first-time buyer relief is modelled only where the government publishes the amount. The Additional Dwelling Supplement in Scotland now has its own calculator here, and Wales uses higher residential rates rather than a surcharge. For anything beyond a straightforward purchase, use the authority's own calculator.
